It’s that time of year…the burpee time of year, when we all rally our efforts and do as many burpees as we can possibly do in 5 minutes for pledges and donations to help cure type one diabetes.
Consider joining us on May 8th as we celebrate the 5th annual burpees and burgers fundraiser at Urban Athlete in support of JDRF – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Don’t fret burpees aren’t the only way you can participate. We are still in need of silent auction items (last year we had some pretty amazing items!) sponsors, and volunteers.
This is a community event and all who are interested in supporting the effort to turn type one diabetes into type none are welcome to participate and attend. In fact please tell your friends and family, ask for support if you’ll be doing the 5 minute burpee set and/or come with the intent of getting a really cool silent auction item for yourself (or your mom, since Mother’s day is the following Sunday.)
Registration is free for the event, but we are asking that each participant fundraise a minimum of $100. We will have prizes for the person who fundraises the most as well as a prize for the most burpees completed in the women’s elite and men’s elite division.

Urban Athlete’s annual fundraiser to support JDRF – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation,
in an ongoing effort to cure type one diabetes
Burpees and Burgers is a fun and exciting event that takes place at Urban Athlete in support of our effort to raise both funds and awareness for type one diabetes. I am a type one diabetic and have been for 27 years. Advances in research and treatment options as well as potentially finding a cure for this auto-immune disease is at it’s peak.
During Burpees and Burgers, participants race against the clock to do as many burpees as they can in five minutes, prior to the event participants raise money by asking for pledges and donations for their efforts.
Our fundraising goal for 2015 is $12,500.
To get this fundraiser rolling we are in need of several different types of sponsorships. If you are interested in helping to support this event please let me know no later than Monday, April 21, 2015.
Event Sponsors:
Event sponsors need to be secured to make sure the event runs well, is promoted well and has a high turnout. Advertising both in print media and social media, t-shirt printing, elite division prizes, entertainment and food/beverage needs will be met by the event sponsors. Should you wish to allocated your sponsorship to a specific need please let us know which one.
We have three levels of sponsorship for the event.
Strength $500 – Company name on our event t-shirt, three (3) time recognition on social media and signage at event.
Power $1000 – Company name on our event t-shirt, seven (7) time recognition on social media, signage at the event and within press release for event.
Endurance $1500 – Company name on our event t-shirt, ten (10) time recognition on social media, large / single banner signage at the event and within press release for event. Optional table at event for company promotion.

Silent Auction Items:
We are in search of experience based silent auction items, in a range of prices that appeal to a variety of folks.
If you are interested in donating to the silent auction, please fill out the attached form and return the form and your silent auction item to Urban Athlete no later than Thursday, April 30th. We can also pick up your silent auction item if it is more convenient for you.
Typically items do best, rather than certificates with dollar amounts associated to them. Anything fun and experience based will help draw attention to the item.

Playlist Sponsorship:
Music can really motivate certain people. This year for the first time music sponsorship will be available in approximately 20 minute blocks.
If you wish to have a customized playlist during a certain time frame of the event you can submit your song selections, up to 7 songs, along with your sponsorship of $50.
If you plan on participating in the burpees portion of the event you can submit to have your song selection play during your time slot.
Since this is a family event no songs with grossly explicit lyrics, profanity or of degrading nature will be played. Sorry.
